1. Reset my Circadian Rhythm:
It gets pretty dark in the winter here, and it doesn’t help that I spend most of my time indoors. The result is me feeling groggy during the day and never feeling tired at night. I’ve dealt with that by using a Suntouch Plus light to help me wake up in the morning and give my body a little serotonin so I can feel energized.

2. Have a Breakfast Shake Planned:
I haven’t been hungry in the morning lately, I just want to get to work. So I’ve gotten into a habit of using breakfast shakes on days that I would otherwise go without breakfast. Right now it consists of a scoop of Raw Meal Vegan Meal Replacement in Cocoa Dream, a tablespoon of Vitamineral Green by Healthforce, a banana, 6 ice cubes, and enough water to blend it. I blend my shake in a Vitamin 750, but pretty much any blender will do. Just a warning, for me, the taste is good enough, you may not like it though. It tastes VERY earthy and slightly chocolatey. A blended smoothie with made with actual food would work just as well :P. This is a convenient option if you don’t have time to eat, don’t have much produce on hand, and want it to be quick (no cutting, peeling, etc.).

3. Wake Up with Ease:
I have a mandatory wake-up call at the same time every morning, I’m a bit of a night owl and knowing that my wake-up time is non-negotiable helps me hold myself accountable when I stay up. I use a gentle alarm (as opposed to one that sets off my fight-or-flight response and makes me cranky), it makes me conscious enough to turn on my light, which helps me wake up in a more graceful and effective way. No crankiness needed!

3.2 Mandatory Leisure & Balance:
As good as it feels to work nonstop all day and get a ton of work done, making that a habit tends to make me burn out mentally and start procrastinating. I force myself to have mandatory leisure for at least an hour a day. For my brother, it’s playing guitar and exercising. For me, it’s long walks, reading, trying elaborate recipes, and expanding on a skill I’m interested in. When I mix fun into my work day, I dread work less and grow in more ways than just one. Being balanced influences my mindset, which influences the quality of my work. The intention/feeling behind your work is everything, if you're frantic and burnt out, it won't turn out as well.

4. Under Eye Tiredness:
I’ve gotten in a habit of keeping my eye cream in the fridge to reduce puffiness and help my face feel more refreshed in the morning. This helps a lot when I’m sleep-deprived (I try really hard not to be, but sometimes my priorities don’t allow it). For some reason, when I look tired, I feel tired. So refrigerated eye cream has been a simple fix for that. I’m currently using the All Seeing Eye Cream by Living Libations

5. Cold Air:
Although the darkness of the winter screws up my sleep cycles, the cool air helps me wake up and feel more alert. So I go for walks as often as I can, the external stimuli other than my workplace helps my mindset a lot too.
