Gimp is a free image manipulation tool.
With gimp you can manipulate your bitmap images and create all kinds of graphics. Bitmap images are essentially photographs. They are composted of tiny bits of color information all stitched together, forming an image. Bitmap images are different from vector based images. Vector based images are made of geometric shapes and are used primarily for creating hand drawn graphics and illustrations.
