How Many Americans REALLY have Native Blood?
How many Americans really have native blood? Many Americans in the USA, both Whites and Blacks alike (and everything in between) have long claimed to have familial ties to certain indigenous tribes of America before the arrival of the European colonizers, but is this actually accurate to reality? Well, unlike in Latin America, no significant multiracial class ever formed from intermixing with the Natives since the pre-Columbian population density was so much lower in Northern America than Mesoamerica, so most of the indigenous groups tended to just get wiped out. Modern genetic studies show that non-Hispanic Whites and non-Hispanic Blacks have only a miniscule amount of Native ancestry concentrated in a minority of the population. There are many reasons why certain families have erroneously claimed Native heritage over the generations but this is an interesting case where most people are simply mistaken about their own ancestry.
