Cradle Mountain is one of the most iconic locations to visit in Tasmania. Surrounded by stunning wilderness, the mountain is popular for hikers and tourists yet never really got my attention until I seen a few people post pictures from the air ---- I had to go and look for myself!
A few failed attempts due to weather but finally I got there and wow - it was worth it. The video/pictures do not do it justice - it is an amazing and spectacular mountain and landscape.
The flight was supposed to be enroute to Hobart but weather closed in and I had to divert back North but was unable to get home due to the cloud base and eventually daylight fading.
The Bushcat is perfect for landing anywhere and so it spent the night at the Lakes (not that far from Cradle Mountain). I returned the next day to fly her home in much nicer weather.
Flying for fun means you should always have a plan B and C and D - and don't take unnecessary risks.
