Retiming compositions in After Effects can be done in many ways, the bonus of using the new responsive design time feature is that you can tell After Effects not to re-time certain sections of your composition. This means you can preserve the animation rate of certain areas, and only speed up or slow down the unprotected areas. This is incredibly useful, and it can even be used in Adobe Premiere when using the Motion Graphics Template feature.
