Rhino User Webinar: Rhino.inside.TopSolid : Interoperability towards fabrication

Rhino.Inside.TopSolid is an open-source plugin, based on the Rhino.Inside Technology. It allows Rhino and Grasshopper to run inside CAD-CAM TopSolid. In this webinar, Ahmed Wael Ismail, its developer and main maintainer, will go through its development and its main functionalities, before illustrating with practical use-cases and applications of the plugin. The Rhino.Inside.TopSolid plugin is part of a larger investigation of file-less open methods for exchanging data using TopSolid as a software tool. Another application developed was the Speckle.TopSolid connector.TopSolid is known for its precise modeling capabilities based on the Parasolid Geometry Kernel and its integrated PDM, which enables feature-based parametric modeling in a part/assembly logic, commonly used in mechanical engineering. It also allows an integrated workflow from design to fabrication.
Ahmed Wael Ismail is an architect and lecturer at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland, where he worked as a scientific assistant at CNPA Lab. Since 2023, he has taught Geometry for Architects for Bachelor students. Beyond teaching, he conducts research on data interoperability in AEC, especially for computational geometry and BIM. Originally from Cairo, he got his Architecture Degree from INSA Strasbourg and a Master's in Digital Design from ENSA Nancy in France. Later, he started a PhD at the Grenoble School of Architecture, Univ. Grenoble Alpes.
