This is the British military’s first purpose-built cartridge firing rifle. It was used by the British Army in the Boar, Zulu, and Anglo-Afghan Wars of the late 19th century. Seen in movies such as “Zulu” and “The Man Who Would Be King”, this rifle was used throughout the British empire from 1873 until the end of World War Two, and even longer in places like Afghanistan.
