Wow it's getting uploaded really faaaast OO I SHOULD WRITE A DEASCRIPTION, YOU BASTARD.
So, it's a kind of bgm, a fake ost fo ctrlkun's story. She writes it and sends me pieces of it as it progresses, and the latest was about gray envelopes. I WAS SO INSPIRED. I DIDN'T EVEN EXPECT I WOULD BE SO INSPIRED. So, basically, what is gray envelopes I'm so excited about:
1) These are not humans, they're called antoramie (if I spell it right)
2) Magic and psychic is illegal in some regions of where they live. "Illegal" as in "so freaking illegal you can get a freaking death penalty for it if you're lucky enough".
3) Also it's painful, as with magic you also get a slow-progressing disease that ruins your body from the inside (psychic doesn't give such effect), so you're literally a magical walking deadman.
4) f.i.v.e. is an "organization" (if you can say so), that literally "collects" antoramies who show magical or psychic abilities and gives them a kind of job (usually it's an assassination service, but can vary). In practice it's something more than this, but I don't want to talk a lot about it, because it's not the point.
5) The point is, that if you join f.i.v.e., you have no right to fail, complain or go away, or else you'll die as painful as it's possible. You're not a master of your fate anymore. You'll have to do whatever you're told to and no one cares if you can't or don't want to. On the other hand, you get decent salary, cure from the disease magic brings (temporary, surely), right to use your magic and be sure you won't be punished for it, help with achieving your own goal if you have one and even some kind of immortality (you'll die eventually anyway, but for some time you'll be immortal, that's essential for the job)
6) Gray envelopes contain message telling you that from that moment you either join f.i.v.e. or die. Nobody wants to die, but not everyone is eager to join either. It's a difficult choice, as you choose between quick death and slow death with elements of slavery, lapse from virtue and so on. Gray envelope means tragedy. Whatever you choose, it's tragedy.
7) ISN'T IT INSPIRING, OH GODS OF NATURE

These guys on the picture are incidential characters except the girl with blue hair in the bottom - she is the main character, and it's she who carries gray envelopes, but it's not the main point of her story, I just was inspired by particulary this part.
