Where is the future of science and how can individuals make a difference?
Science in itself doesn't have a particular direction or destination in mind, instead it is more about the quest for knowledge and understanding. However there are groups out their from companies to governments directing where some science is heading. Sciences like chemistry, particle physics and astronomy are fairly crowded with highly qualified individuals all competing for a relatively few positions so it is difficult for an individual to make a significant contribution. The one field which currently seems to have the scope for individuals to make a difference is biophysics, studying plants and animals and seeing how they move and interact with their environment.
