Biodiversity is required for a healthy ecosystem, many plants and animals have a complex relationship with each other and need the other to survive and thrive. The removal of one species could have an impact on another seemingly unrelated species and these species could have a major impact on human food production. This could be in the form of small fungi like mycorrhiza or large animals like the elephant.
