Changes in the Arctic Ocean are observed through a Central Arctic Monitoring System. The Norwegian Polar Institute has installed two moorings at the Amundsen and Nansen basins of the Central Arctic Ocean.
These moorings are equipped with various technologies, including sonar, acoustic current profilers, ice profiling, automatic water samplers, acoustic recorders, and sediment traps. These technologies enable ocean observation beyond collecting long-term measurements at peripheral straits helping generate robust datasets for climate change assessments.
