PVD induction in diabetic vitreous hemorrhage is not as easy as it looks! The posterior hyaloid is firmly attached at epicenters and in the majority of cases there is not PVD. The retina is thin at the epicenters and it can tear or bleeding from the vessels cannot happen. You cannot just pull as for example in macular hole surgery. The tactic is a bit of pull to get some separation of the vitreous from the retina, away from areas of traction, then you cut deep at the epicenters to free up the hyaloid.
