Dr Helen Carter of PBscience runs through how to perform a lactate threshold test in the sports science labs at the University of Brighton. The lactate threshold is the most common measure of sub-maximal fitness measured in a lab test and is one of the key parameters (alongside VO2max and efficiency/economy) that describes a cyclist's endurance performance. The lactate threshold represents the top of training zone 2 and so the lactate threshold test is important for accurately establishing an individual's training zones.
