Introducing Kiichi Takeuchi, 2024 NCECA Conference Presenter, From Data to Cup – Visualization Technique with 3–D Clay Printer

Kiichi Takeuchi, a BFA student with a background in Computer Science, offers a 3-D printing visualization technique that utilizes numerical data to create designs. For instance, Takeuchi has printed 3-D whiskey cups using global climate change records from the past 140 years, without the use of 3-D design software. He will present various ideas, such as dishes and jars from wood-firing data, a flower vase from glacier data, or a tumbler from his daily energy consumption.

Kiichi Takeuchi has a BS and MS in Computer Science from Long Island University. After developing apps and software for 24 years, Takeuchi became a BFA student in 2022. He is in charge of maintaining and leading the study group of a 3-D printer at the Craft Center.
