First and foremost, our job, Goalkeeper, is to protect the ball out of the net.
This is something that has never changed since football invented and will never change. This film has nothing to do with protecting the ball out of net.
Over the last 10 years, the goalkeeping has become more complexed position and require more foot skill in any level.
Hopefully, this video helps you understand how you can be more comfortable in certain situation and how you can enhance your distribution + execution.
1- Key point in this video is your Positive Prep-Touch.
It allows you to have multiple options to get out of certain situation without having/making turnover.
2- Courage + braveness to invite pressure or use the pressure.
Imagine being a striker and chasing the goalkeeper. If the goalkeeper looks panic, would you continue chasing him/her ? Absolutely. But, imagine if GK seems comfortable and inviting you to chase after him. When you chase him and he easily get away with it by playing out from the back. Would you continue chasing after him next time ? Probably not.
3- Understand the football itself and also what the team ask of you.
You need to be able to understand what the team ask of GK when play out from the back. If you do that, when you have the ball on your feet, you know exactly where your players are. If not in the right place, you should be able to demand and move those players into where you'd like them to be.
