Last Saturday, October 26th, a bizarre rainbow appeared in Piauí. Dubbed a fire rainbow, it was seen by residents of southern Piauí, about 300 km from Teresina.
The fire rainbow in Piauí caught everyone's attention on social media. After all, is there an explanation for it?
Interestingly, in the early hours of October 26th, an X-class solar flare occurred, followed by a Coronal Mass Ejection. Studies reveal that the Sun, with its solar storms of charged particles and highly energized protons, can disrupt the Global Electrical Circuit and abruptly alter the climate, intensifying storms here on Earth, tornadoes, hurricanes, and other weather events.
However, there is no study that points to the formation of fire rainbows or any other type.
According to expert Marcia Yamasoe, from the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at USP, it is a rare phenomenon that occurs when the Sun is positioned at a perfect angle, and refraction occurs in cirrus clouds filled with ice or water particles. According to Marcia Yamasoe, a contrail (a condensation trail left by an airplane) may have contributed to the formation of the fire rainbow in Piauí.
Although rare, there are other records of fire rainbows around the world, such as one that occurred in 2021 in the Philippines.
