Specific heat capacity of a substance. Q = m x c x delta t, where c is the specific heat capacity of a substance, m is mass, Q is the heat supplied and delta t is the change in temperature. Numerical value of the specific heat capacity of a substance is the energy required per unit mass of the substance to raise the temperature by 1 degree Celsius or by 1 Kelvin. The unit of specific heat capacity c is Joules per Kilogram per degree Celsius. J/Kg/C.
