Dissensus. Ep8. The Bible as a tool of transformation. Is God partly evil or all-loving?
In this episode of Dissensus, we explore whether The Bible should be interpreted as a man-made, incoherent text vs a revealed, coherent one. Does The Bible help you obtain wisdom through a process of introducing uncertainty to your thinking — or through a process of presenting authoritative propositions that become contextually relevant and useful, as you attempt to make sense of them in your daily life? Is God or man transforming? Were the patterns placed merely for their psychologically engaging effect, or is their survival and popularity an indication of utility and/or truth? We also explore the pros and cons of structuralism — in The Bible, sport, and chess. It’s important to take a first stab at making sense of chaos. Even though inherently imperfect.

// Where are these episodes going? //
We are taking the abstract process of human transformation (described by Jung, Alchemy, The Hero’s Journey, The Bible, Star Trek, One Piece, Sandman, and more), and putting it in real world terms.
How can a real person’s experience map onto these ideas? How can you engage with these ideas to find spark or your place in the world? How can you use this process to find life in the face of human limitation and suffering: failure, bad relationships, illness, polarization, and death? How can games (RPGs, ARGs, tabletop, sport) help set you on this path?
We offer no rules — just heuristics and stories. From there, we leave it in your hands — to set your own principals and grow your own creative life.
Finally. We will most certainly go off track. But we hope you enjoy the long winding path. It will all make sense in the end :).
