The Pantanal- A Wetland at the Crossroads
The Pantanal is a huge wetland found in Brazil and partly in Paraguay and Bolivia. The region protects the world's largest tropical wetland, an area about the size of England. The Pantanal floods once every year and provides a very unique ecosystem for a vast array of wildlife. Some key species are the jaguar, capybara, anacondas, tapir, and the Hyacinth macaw. People living in the Pantanal region are mostly cattle ranchers and their way of life is tied very closely to the land.
