HW/SW function split for energy-aware communications

This video introduces the real-time 5G hotspot prototype that was developed at CTTC in the context of the H2020 Flex5Gware project. The hotspot is able to flexibly distribute its underlying software (SW) and hardware accelerated (HWA) communication functions across the network, as well as to adapt various parameters affecting the generation of the transmitted signal. The reconfiguration of the hotspot focuses on optimizing a specific key performance indicator (KPI), while accounting for the current operative requirements. In the presented proof-of-concept the focus was laid on minimizing the energy footprint of the hotspot.
