Plastics are all around us. But did you know that plastic food and drink containers and plastics we use in our everyday lives break down into microplastics and nanoplastics (which are the size of a single bacteria!)? These tiny pieces of plastic end up in our food, our drinks, and even our air. This means that we all consume and breathe in plastic every day without ever knowing it (on average, we consume the equivalent of a plastic credit card…every week!). So the question is…as it accumulates in our bodies, what impact does all this plastic have on our health?
Join us as we dive into microplastics and nanoplastics - what they are, where they come from, how they affect us, and how to (try to) avoid them…
If you have questions about microplastics or ideas for other subjects (including TikTok videos!) that you’d like us to discuss, leave a comment below – we’d love to hear from you!

What is The Feed with Dr. G?
“Science provides the knowledge we need to improve our health – but it’s also science’s job to make sure that knowledge is accessible to everyone.” – Dr. Samir Gupta
Nothing matters more than our health. And science is the key to understanding and maximizing our health and wellness. Yet new studies are reported in the news every day, and it seems impossible to keep up and figure out what’s important. At the same time, science is too often presented in a traditional style that’s unnecessarily complex and hard to understand.
As both a doctor and a scientist, my mission is to find fresh approaches to make science clear, transparent, and easy to understand (=obvious!) – for everyone. In our digital world, The Feed is built to keep people engaged and informed about the latest topics and newest science in health and medicine and to empower them to separate fact from fiction.
