This part of the webinar focuses on the utilization of permaculture production dams, which are key for maximizing water yield. These dams serve as hotspots for various organisms like fish, ducks, water chestnuts, and crayfish, thriving due to the flow of nutrients. Despite clear water appearances, it can carry important nutrients eroded from hillsides. Permaculture suggests catching these nutrients using biological methods without relying on high-tech gadgets. Introducing fodder plants, algae, mussels, and snails in ponds can efficiently absorb nutrients like calcium, essentially functioning as biological machines. The ideal setup involves a sequence of mini ponds and permaculture water harvesting systems, including wetland plant systems, to gradually clean the water before it leaves the property. Ultimately, managing water in landscapes requires understanding soil particles, water dynamics, and slope characteristics to create a balanced and resilient ecosystem harmonizing human activities with the natural landscape.
