This is one of those too obvious to test strats, but it's still interesting to see. I often try to do this when I play casually, but it's harder than I thought.
Here's how it works: the crusher chain is purely visual. The chain hitbox is a lingering miasma that spawns the instant the crusher hits the ground, and is timed to disappear the instant it starts retracting. This means it's possible to jump over the crusher with good timing.
How good timing? Well, the conveyor belts and low ceilings make it MUCH harder. With the low ceiling, there's no room to do a full jump, so you have to nestle yourself in the corner, short hop like you're trying to double laser, and jump for between 6 to 11 frames as the crusher starts to go back up (Note that I don't nestle myself as close as possible during the conveyor belt crushers. Watch the last 2 crushers to see how close you can get). For the 2 crushers under higher ceilings, there is plenty of room for a full jump, making the trick relatively easy.
And before you ask: no, you can't unload the chain hitboxes like with blockies. Crushers and chain miasmas don't move horizontally, so they can't be "one frame behind" like the other composite sprites.
Might actually be faster in puresabe's patch that fixes the sprite animation timer bug.
