Cross Friction massage is great for injuries that occur at the musclotendinous junction of a muscle at the origin or insertion. It aids in releasing adhesions and stimulates regeneration of tissue fibers in line the same line of the uninjured structure.
Pressure is applied perpendicular to the tissue fibers, crossing over back and forth repeatedly.
This procedure may cause discomfort, however after 30 seconds to 2 minutes, an anesthetic effect should occur and treatment may continue for a total of 4-5 minutes. If there is no anesthetic effect, stop treatment.
