High Brace Roll Explained
I find that this is an easy roll to teach to beginners.
Though very similar to the C to C Roll we teach this roll from the standpoint of, (1) there's no sweep at all, just maneuver your paddle over and at right angles to your upturned boat, (2) pull straight down on the paddle as in a high brace, (3) in conjunction with the paddle pull down, execute a good hip snap.
Once this steps are put together into a successful roll, it's then easy to for beginners to expand their skills set to a sweep and to a powerful hip flick.
