1954 invasion of Iwo Jima Operation MarDivLex 1-54
Finding some color film negatives led to this video of 3rd Marine Division doing a mock invasion of Iwo Jima 9 years after the end of World War II. It was Marine Division Landing Exercise 1-54 (Operation MarDivLex 1-54), with 16,000 Marines hitting the black sand beaches of Iwo Jima, which was - and still is - Japanese territory.
