Why going to the GP is so much more expensive than it used to be
If you're struggling to afford to go to the GP atm you're not alone. When Medicare started 40 years ago it covered 85% of the cost of a GP appointment. These days you’re lucky if it covers 45% of the cost.
At this rate it’ll barely cover anything in 40 more years. Increasing the Medicare rebate for longer appointments is one of many things the government could do to address this ever growing gap. What are they waiting for?
