Flexibility vs. Mobility
🏋🏽♂️ Flexibility is the ability to passively move through range of motion.
We need the muscles to relax to improve flexibility.
📊 Mobility is the range you can actively control.
Active drills within and to the end of available range of motion can improve mobility.
🔑 Avoid trying to strengthen positions that a client doesn’t even have access to passively.
Trying to strengthen at 180 degrees of shoulder flexion when a client only has 160 is likely to result in compensation patterns at the lumbar spine or anterior shoulder.
🌟 Consider both flexibility and mobility when designing a training program.
