4K Security Camera Digital Zoom using DVR & Mobile App
Learn how-to digital zoom on Viewtron DVRs and the mobile app using a 4K security camera. Please note that this is a fixed lens IP camera. We are demonstrating how-to digitally zoom in using the recorder that it is connected to (an IP camera NVR) and also using the iPhone app that connects to the recorder.
What is digital zoom?
There are two ways of zooming security cameras: optical zoom and digital zoom. Optical zoom is used in PTZ cameras. The lens mechanically adjusts the distance between camera's sensor and subject that is in view. Digital zoom basically enlarges / magnifies the pixels of the video to make areas appear closer. However, when you digitally zoom in, you loose resolution because the pixels are enlarged.
The digital zoom methods demonstrated in this video apply to Viewtron security camera DVRs (BNC cameras) and Viewtron IP camera NVRs. The mobile app for iPhone and Android are identical in function and are able to connect to DVRs and NVRs.
