Prepare a sponge, which is a way to activate the yeast. Crumble the fresh yeast into a bowl and add the lukewarm water. Stir in a generous tablespoon of flour and another of sugar. Mix well until the yeast and flour are dissolved. Let it rest, covered with a cloth, until lots of bubbles appear.
Put the flour in a bowl. Add the sugar, salt, egg, milk, vanilla, and melted butter. Mix well and then add the sponge. Mix well until a dough forms. You can adjust the dough consistency by adding more flour or milk.
