Beach Road Aftermath! The must see drone footage! Post Joaquin Route 12 destruction!
The wind was still blowing a gusty 20-25, but when the sun came out, I just had to put the drone up again! This video will not disappoint! This is Route 12, known locally as the Beach Road, near milepost 4 in Kitty Hawk NC on the Outer Banks (OBX). The southern section of beach with the sandbags was part of a NCDOT repair after a dune line breach back in May, and it held pretty well, but the northern section without sandbags started coming apart on Sunday. This footage was shot with my Phantom 2 Vison Plus around 4:45pm on Tuesday, October 6th, 2015. Please also know that other than this small weak spot taking a beating, the rest of the northern Outer Banks saw little to no damage from Joaquin or the many days of high surf and high winds that preceeded it.
