National Adoption Week 2022 - identity and relationships
This year, National Adoption Week (17 to 23 October) focuses on the theme of identity and relationships. We are part of the national You Can Adopt campaign that explores adopted people’s memories and relationships from before, during, and after they were adopted, and how these make them who they are today.
This new short film exploring the relationships and memories of four adopted people as they look back through their own ‘memory boxes’ from their lives before and after they were adopted, that have
made an impact on their sense of identity. The emotional film brings to life the connections that adopted people make and how their sense of identity has been formed through various connections in their lives – from birth parents to foster families.
We feature four adopted people: Tiegan and her birth father; Emma and her adoptive mother Jill; and Nikita and John, biological siblings who were adopted together.
