Ella Sings Two
Past Entertainment returns with a new clip featuring America’s “First Lady of Song,” Ella Fitzgerald, singing two of her hits. Her performance was recorded on the musical variety show, Frankie Laine Time, on September 12, 1956. She first sings the classic, Ridin’ High, a song introduced in the Cole Porter musical stage show, Red, Hot and Blue. Ella released the album, Ella Fitzgerald Sings The Cole Porter Song Book, containing the song in 1956. Ella follows the Cole Porter classic with the song, The Silent Treatment, with lyrics by Stanley Styne and music by Donald Kahn. Fitzgerald released a single of this song in 1956, pairing it with The Sun Forgot to Shine on the B-side.
