ESXi Raw Disk Mapping - Synology DSM on Non Synology Hardware - Interactive Guide
OK now this step is optional but by doing it you can get slightly better performance from inside XPEnology when using ESXi. This basically maps a file to the raw structure of your HDD essentially passing the device directly through to the VM.
