Restoring my grandfather's vintage bicycle light was a journey filled with challenges and determination. When I first took it apart, the extent of the rust and corrosion was overwhelming—decades of neglect had left the steel barely recognizable. The disassembled pieces seemed fragile and beyond saving, and I almost gave up, thinking it might be easier to replace the entire lamp. But the sentimental value it held, tied to countless stories and memories, convinced me to take on the challenge.

Determined to honour its history, I meticulously worked on each piece. Using a hydraulic press, I carefully reshaped the rusted steel, pressing the metal back into form. My goal was to save as much of the original lamp as possible, rather than simply replacing it with new parts. Every step was a test of patience, requiring precision and care. Slowly, the lamp began to take shape again, retaining its authentic character while being revived for future use. The process was arduous, but in the end, the restored light became a fitting tribute to my grandfather’s legacy—a piece of history, preserved and cherished.
