What a delightful treat watching these young men entertain the tourists, expats, their boyfriends, and bar staff.
The dance style, known as 'breaking" or break dancing, began in the African-American community of New York City. Fifty years later, it's popularity is stronger than ever and now global.
The boys brought their own music, notice the sound speaker with the blue flashing lights. The song is "Keep Me In Mind" by The Bamboos, a Melbourne, Australia based funk and soul band. The sassy, brassy voice is Kylie Auldist's.
The music sets the stage for a lively, sweaty display of impressive moves. Then comes the endearing if mottled thank you and bow at the end. The hats are passed, tips collected, and then on to the next beer garden.
The Jomtien complex caters to older gay men, mostly expats and seasonal residents. It's two alley ways lined on both sides with beer gardens full of eager and enterprising young gentlemen. A short list of my favorites: @Home Bar, Question Mark Bar, BC Bar, T-4 Bar, Dolce Vita Bar, Sun Bar.
