Bumblebee ID Day at Braunton Burrows
Braunton Burrows SSSI is a stronghold for rare bumblebee species, like the Brown-banded carder bumblebee, in North Devon. Teaching the identification of rare and common bumblebee species is key to monitoring populations and conserving these precious pollinators.
In August 2023, the West Country Buzz project teamed up with Braunton Countryside Centre’s Connect 2 Nature project to hold a bumblebee ID day on the Burrows. The day was a success, with plenty of flowers blooming and a range of bumblebee species found by our enthusiastic attendees!
