Why Are There No Stones On The Track At Railway Stations Know The Reason

There is a lot of expenditure in the maintenance of these ballasts lying on the track. Well, the reason behind not putting them at big stations is not this, but something else. Let's know what is the reason...
Whenever we have to go somewhere by train, we have to go to the station and catch the train. The world's fourth largest rail network, Indian Railways has more than 8300 railway stations, big or small. During the journey in the train, there are many small and big railway stations in between. If you have noticed, you must have found that the platform tracks of the big railway stations are set in concrete. There are no stones lying on the track here. Whereas, stones are lying on the track of the small station like the rest of the way. Have you ever thought why this happens?
That's why there are stones on railway tracks
Let us first understand why stones are lying on the railway tracks. These stones lying on the railway track are called ballast. When the train runs on the track, there is a strong vibration and a lot of noise. These ballasts lying on the track reduce this noise and at the time of vibration, the strip below the track called sleepers prevents them from spreading.

However, maintenance of these ballasts lying on the track is costly. Sometimes, due to the process of their maintenance, the railway track has to be blocked. Apart from this, these stones also protect the sleepers from sinking into the soil. Also, due to their presence, even weeds do not grow on the track.

Why are these stones not there at big stations?
Earlier, the toilet built in the ICF coach of the railway used to have an open discharge system, that is, after coming out of the toilet, the dirt used to fall directly on the track. Now, because the train stops for a long time at big stations, when the train was standing at the station, the dirt coming out of the toilet used to fall on the track, due to which a lot of dirt was created after the departure of the train. In such a situation, if there are stones on the track, then that dirt will not be cleaned and foul smell will spread at the station. That's why the track at the big station was made of concrete, so that the track could be cleaned properly after the departure of the train.

On the other hand, at smaller stations, the train source stops only for 1 or 2 minutes. That's why not much dirt spreads there. That's why there are only stones on the track. However, now the Railways have replaced the open discharge system with bio-toilets. After which the dirt has stopped falling on the track.
