Among the more common playdough surgery requests we receive are those from parents wanting to explain a procedure they are facing with their children. 1 in 8 US women will develop breast cancer - breast imaging and procedures are important ways to expeditiously diagnose and treat cancer.

A lumpectomy is a procedure performed to remove a breast tumor (benign or small cancers) while leaving as much normal breast tissue as possible. In our next case, we remove a benign breast “tumor” (brings new meaning to the trusty surgical re-tractor!) using a periareolar approach, closing with a nearly invisible scar. It is amazing that breast surgeons are able to do this, and so much more - for our mothers, sisters, daughters, neighbors, and friends 🌸
