2019-2020 Thesis Super Project - Traffic Flow Visualization - Chengjun Shao
The aim of this project is to create a graphical user interface in web browser for visualizing the traffic passenger flow data, which provided by the public transit agency, TransLink. The data is visualized in web application Dash in different graphical forms with interactive functionalities with users. The graphics that are used to visualize the traffic flow data are considered including line charts, scatter plots, box plots, heatmaps and map heatmaps. The interactivity with users could be realized through setting the drop-down menus, zooming in and out of the images, setting the selecting criteria, automatic search of outliers, automatic filtering of the busiest bus routes and bus stops etc... In addition, the trend and characteristics of the Queensland traffic flow are also need to be investigated with relevant external factors that may affect passenger flow such as rainfall, public holidays, school holidays, tourists, sports and festival events.
