We invited Nyakundi Isaboke back on the show and within minutes he was already dismantling every excuse that Kenyan filmmakers, content creators and investors hide behind. He did not sugarcoat anything. We talked about why Kenya is still invisible on the global film map despite all the talent? Why Kenyan audiences choose piracy over supporting their own and why people busy building streaming platforms with absolutely nothing worth watching on them?
We found out that Kenyans are not watching Kenyan content because either Kenyan content is not good enough yet, the infrastructure is broken, the investment mindset is wrong, the marketing is nonexistent or filmmakers are too busy waiting to be saved instead of saving themselves. We even did talk about arranged marriages, Nairobi slay queens, men who can't fund relationships, and why your mother might actually know better than you do when it comes to picking a partner… and at the end of it all he hits you with a philosophy so simple it almost sounds stupid. Until you realize you've never actually done it.
We think you’ll enjoy this episode!
