There are more than 10,000 bird species on Earth, most of which correspond to our traditional ideas about their appearance. But among them there are real originals, whose appearance rather resembles fairy-tale characters or inhabitants that inhabited our planet in ancient times.
Kitoglav (Shoebill Stork):
Great gray heron with a "wooden shoe" instead of a beak - this is how you can briefly and succinctly describe the appearance of this bird.
Rhino bird (Rhinoceros hornbill):
The rhinoceros bird got its name from its large long beak, sharply curved downward and having significant outgrowths of various shapes at its base.
Cassowary:
Cassowaries are large non-flying birds. Today the genus Cassowary includes 3 species:
• Helmet-bearing cassowary or common cassowary
• Cassowary - Muruka
• Orange-necked cassowary.
Sage Grouse:
It is a North American bird of the pheasant family. The homeland of the sage grouse is the steppes overgrown with wormwood in western North America, from Canada to New Mexico.
Crowned dove:
It is a large bird of the pigeon family, containing three species.
1. Blue-crested crowned pigeon
2. Chestnut-breasted crowned pigeon
3. Fan-bearing crowned pigeon
The name of the species "Crowned pigeons" was given due to their magnificent headdress - a magnificent fan-shaped tuft
Ecuadorian Umbrella Bird (Long wattled Umbrellabird):
The Ecuadorian umbrella bird is a large black bird, the heads of the males are decorated with long black feathers hanging over the beak, forming something like a fashionable hairstyle with bangs combed in front. Another source of pride for the Ecuadorian umbrella bird is the 35 centimeter long throat sac covered with short, scale-like feathers.
Andean cock-of-the-rock:
It is found in the Andes, inhabiting the slopes of gorges, tropical rainforests and river valleys in Bolivia, Peru and Venezuela. Andean cockerels settle exclusively among rocks, equipping their nests in the same place.
