OrBLock is a sphere designed around six equal cube-sphere segments. Each identical segment has a unique interlocking design that allows them to be easily assembled with a snap press fit to create the OrBLock sphere.
The OrBLock has multiple uses, desktop art/sculpture novelty, ball shaped container or product enclosure etc. The surface design pattern on each segment is arbitrary and alternate surface designs can be implemented to suit the type of use or the aesthetic requirements.
The unique snap-fit, interlocking mechanism which allows all six identical sphere segments to be held together has been designed and created using a design formula that allows the mechanism to work, although the interlocking design features can be variable as long as the design formula is followed to allow the components to fit together.
A simple comparison would be the formula for hinge designs, they can be different sizes and have different numbers of knuckles etc. but each half of the hinge must correspond.
3d Printing allows the OrBLock to be produced with complete accuracy allowing the segments to align and interlock precisely.
