Tiny Terror.
A CG Animated Short Film: " Tiny Terror " is a project made by myself & 3 others for a University project.
Project Overview:
This project seen me take on the position of Creative Director. I was part of a team of 3: Cameron Griffith, Anthea Kruger & Josh Dowling. The overall goal was to develop an CG Animated short to be screened in-between TV shows for children and teenagers. The theme was " Overcoming your fears ".
Inspiration:
Various Pixar & Disney movies
Short Story Overview:
At the dead of night, a small girl named Angela encounters a scary shadow while investigating sounds coming from the kitchen. In a panicked fright she drops her teddy down the staircase in front of the shadow. She musters up the courage to set forth and save her beloved teddy. The journey will take Angela down a path of quick decision making and feats of extraordinary courage all the while learning to overcome her fears.
Project Role:
As Creative director it was my role to create the initial idea & express the theme of "Overcoming you fears". Tiny Terror presented many challenges in terms of ideas, story progression & layout to name a few. I put myself in the deep end & took on other roles of weakness I had such as modelling & rigging. The mice were partly modelled by myself in Maya & sculpted in Zbrush by Cameron Griffith (Producer). I retopologised, rigged, textured & animated the mice scene all the while facilitating the story line & consistency of the animation.
I assisted in other areas such as texturing , modelling, concept & character design & post production. Rendering & compositing / post production was done by Cameron Griffith & I and through this experience we learnt alot about optimising renders for effective and efficient workflow.
This was a great project to work on I'm thoroughly proud of the end result.
I would like to send a big THANK YOU to our facilitator Angela Pinilla for all her help, input, wisdom & knowledge.
