BREEAM v7 has officially launched and the minimum standards have changed.
If you’re working towards Very Good, Excellent, or Outstanding ratings under BREEAM v7, you’ll need to understand the new mandatory criteria.

In this video, the team at Encon Associates breaks down the most important updates:
🔹 Mat 01 – Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
Excellent: LCA required at any project stage
Outstanding: LCA required at all three stages including embodied carbon reporting
🔹 Ene 01 / Ene 02 – Energy
Excellent: must meet energy efficiency through Ene 01 or Ene 02
Outstanding: must also demonstrate elimination of fossil fuel use on-site
🔹 Hea 01 – Daylighting Standards
Outstanding: stricter requirements for daylight access, glare control, and views out
🔹 Hea 04 – Indoor Air Quality Plan
Very Good and above: now a mandatory requirement

👉 In summary, BREEAM v7 raises the bar for sustainable building design, tightening criteria to ensure projects go further in reducing carbon, enhancing wellbeing, and delivering holistic environmental performance.

At Encon Associates, we provide expert support with BREEAM assessments, LCAs, daylighting, air quality, energy, and ecology – helping you meet these new requirements with confidence.
