To deactivate your Facebook account in 2024, follow these steps:
1. *Log in to Facebook:*
Open Facebook on your browser or app and log into your account.
2. *Go to Settings:*
On desktop: Click on your profile picture or the down arrow at the top right corner, then select *"Settings & Privacy"* and click *"Settings."*
On mobile: Tap the three horizontal lines (menu) in the top right (Android) or bottom right (iOS), scroll down, and tap *"Settings & Privacy."* Then, tap *"Settings."*
3. *Access Account Settings:*
On desktop: In the left-hand column, click *"Privacy"* and then *"Your Facebook Information."*
On mobile: Scroll down and tap *"Access and control"* under the *"Account"* section.
4. *Deactivation and Deletion:*
Look for *"Deactivation and Deletion"* and select it. You will be given two options: *"Deactivate Account"* and *"Delete Account."*
5. *Select Deactivate Account:*
Choose *"Deactivate Account"* and click or tap *"Continue to Account Deactivation."*
6. *Follow Prompts:*
You may be asked to enter your password. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process. Facebook will ask for a reason for deactivation, but you can skip this if you prefer.
7. *Complete Deactivation:*
Once done, your account will be deactivated. Your profile will no longer be visible to others, but some information (like messages) might still be visible.
To reactivate your account, simply log back in with your email and password.
