The Paul C Audio Timmy has long been an iconic low-gain overdrive pedal known for its "transparent" overdrive circuit. After relatively little activity outside of a Paul C Tim refresh, the Zefram overdrive snuck onto the scene sometime early this year and I had to check it out.
For lovers of the Timmy Overdrive, this is a diversion from the transparent overdrive scheme, with a 3-band EQ and active midrange control that colors the tone and pushes those mid frequencies into beautiful saturation. Zefram delivers a wide range of overdrive tones, bordering distortion when at max. All in all, it's a fun companion to the legendary Timmy, with more prominent mids and a wider array of textures.
