Introduction to ADOC Project (version 2014)
The APEC Digital Opportunity Center (ADOC) Project is an APEC ECOTECH (Economic and Technical Cooperation) initiative that Chinese Taipei first proposed during the 2003 APEC Economic Leader's Meeting. The main objective of ADOC Project is to reduce digital divides in the APEC region by enabling people to overcome limitatons due to age, gender, health, social or education status, so that digitalization can benefit anyone and anything at anytime, anywhere.
The ADOC Project shares Chinese Taipei's experience in developing an e-society. A wide range of ICT training programs are tailored to the needs of 10 ADOC partner member economies (PMEs) and are focused on disadvantaged groups in remote areas, including women and children. The ADOC Project also features the spirit of public-private collaboration through a wide involvement of private sectors, including enterprises, NGOs, and international volunteers. It is considered one of APEC's "best practices" because it synergizes various resources from different stakeholders and generates results.
