The film shows the process of firing up steam locomotive 38 2267. While not everything can be shown in detail, the scenes convey the immense effort required to prepare such a black behemoth for service. Depending on the locomotive's size, firing up takes between three and eight hours. If a particularly gentle firing process is desired, it can even take up to 12 hours.
This video is not intended for experts, but rather for the interested layperson. It aims to illustrate the efforts undertaken by museum railway enthusiasts before they can film or photograph the magnificent white clouds of steam. Lighter, wood, and coal are just the beginning.
