The Iron Maiden. The Pear of Anguish. The Spanish Tickler. All fake.

You've seen them in museums, movies, and history books — the
iconic symbols of medieval brutality. The proof that the Middle

Except historians have known for decades that most of these
devices never existed. The Iron Maiden was assembled in the
19th century to sell tickets. The Pear of Anguish was probably
decorative. And the Spanish Tickler? It was invented in 2005.
